Last October I posted a recipe for skinny Turkey Meatballs I made up a couple of years ago when started dieting and training. Here the post.
I cook these meatballs on regular basis, since they are quite easy and quick to prepare and their taste is rich and satisfying. The following is the basic recipe.
I took pictures while preparing the dish, so here the step-by-step:
300 gr turkey minced meat
1 scallion, diced
2 cups tomato sauce
2 tablespoons flour
1 egg white
1 glass of white wine
salt and spices
Here we go.
First, I diced the scallion and mixed it in a bowl with turkey minced meat, some spices I love (nutmeg powder, garlic and pepper) and salt.
Added an egg white and mixed everything well (use a fork, if you don’t feel like touching the ingredients whith your bare hands and get dirty).
A couple of tablespoon of flour are necessary to create the balls; many use breadcrumbs, I usually don’t have it at home so I use flour or cornstarch.
In a pan heated a tablespoon of olive oil and a pinch of salt. A glass of white wine won’t let the meatballs stick to the pan and keep them soft.
Added two cups of tomato sauce and a pinch of red chili powder. Let them cook for 20 minutes, so the meat is well done (don’t worry, if you use enough liquid – tomato sauce or wine, they will keep soft).
